• Basic Life Support
• Safeguarding
• Manual Handling
Safeguarding
Working with any vulnerable adults can be a daunting task at times, especially when it is your responsibility to help keep them safe whilst you are at work. Safeguarding is a very important part of a carer’s role and responsibilities. It is your job to protect an adult’s right to live in safety, free from risk of abuse or any neglect.
Safeguarding is not just about looking after the client, it’s about things you must and must not do yourself.
Confidence in your knowledge in adult safeguarding is the only way to help prevent harm and reduce the risk of abuse or neglect to adults with additional care and support needs. It is there to stop abuse or neglect from happening wherever possible.
Manual Handling
Moving and handling is important to get correct. Not only is it about the safety of the client and those around you. It is just as much, about preventing yourself from any injury. In the UK, back pain (*) is the biggest reason for sickness from the workplace. It is vitally important that moving and handling is done correctly to avoid causing any injuring your back, especially as you are self-employed!
Basic Life Support
The skills learnt in the Basic Life Support section of this course will include, single rescuer CPR, team-based CPR, choking relief, and all the things you would need to know to resuscitate unresponsive victims or provide immediate treatment. Basic Life Support training covers the most common emergencies that anyone may need to deal with.
